The Charms of Largo do Senado

When in Macau, after satisfying one’s thirst and inclination for gambling and exhausting bulk of travel money in casinos, most tourists spend their evenings at Largo Do Senado or the Senado Square or, if you want to be very correct, Senate Square. Goes without saying that the seat of Macau government was in the building nearby called by a very official sounding name Edificio do Leal Sendao (the Loyal Senate Building).

Not only the tourists, I guess, a lot of Macanese too spend their time here. It is a hangout place!

Some said “you guys are crazy!”, Some others sniggered and sarcastically said “You sure will have some fun!” And yet others flaunted their superior knowledge and voiced “This is not the right time, you must go there in the Winter”.

A little bit of bragging!

A little bit of bragging!

It is not always that I like to boast. 😀

Very rarely.

But a little bit of it gives you positive energy, they say. There are times when you want to share good news with your so many unseen fellow readers and friends.

Its happy news time again. I have been interviewed by Times World Travel Magazine by Bennett & Coleman! It is about ‘Independent Women Travelers’.

Celebrating Yoga Day

What is common between Yoga, Milk and Honey?

Yoga in Israel
Yoga in Israel

We all know that Yoga knows no boundaries and is practiced all over the world. However when I came to know that Israel, the land of milk and honey, as it is called in scriptures, is big on Yoga, I was quite surprised. The traditional practice of yoga has seen numerous variations. Sometime back I had written about Yoga in Israel and had promised to write about the various types of Yoga in practice there, in addition to the classic form.

While Yoga in India is peaceful, quiet and serious, it’s more fun in the west. In India sometimes the teacher doesn’t even speak a word!

Come evening, they break their fast with mouth watering dishes in this holy month with much gusto.

Today on this occasion I take you to Turkey through pictures.

Tangkuban Perahu – Arising out of a legend

Tangkuban Perahu – Arising out of a legend

As I stand at the rim of Tangkuban Perahu crater, the legend unfolds in front of me. A single mother Dayang Sumbi who lived in West Java, cast away her son Sangkuriang for disobedience. Son went to a faraway place. Saddened by her actions, the beautiful woman was also worried about her future. Looking at her sadness the Gods granted her the power of eternal youth.

Time passed,

Indonesia from Above

Not only in airplane but bus, car, train … I love my window seat and I would probably sulk if I do not get a window seat. Vasu knows it very well and when we travel together, he doesn’t even utter a word about taking that seat or looking out of window!

So as usual, while going to Indonesia, I had reserved window seats for all four sectors. I was flying Mumbai-KL-Bandung and took the same route for return journey.

A Peek from The Peak !

“Top of Hong Kong” screamed a flyer. “The Ultimate Hong Kong Experience” said another. “The highest 360 degrees viewing terrace in Hong Kong” articulated a third one.

Only this morning we arrived in Hong Kong by the high speed catamaran from Macau. We just got down to unpacking and planning for the day, in our hotel, in the far off New Territories of Hong Kong aka Harbour City.
