The Year that was 2015

The Year that was 2015

Another year has passed and it’s time to stop and look back; take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon for me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.

I know it is so cliché to reflect back but it’s something I have been doing all these years…. to see how enriching my walk has been.

Did I achieve something in year 2015?

Yes and No.

Phallic Shrine in Bangkok

Phallic Shrine in Bangkok

It was afternoon and we were itching to see some non-touristy places in Bangkok after some minor shopping in Platinum Fashion Mall.
Vasu suggested that we go to this shrine which is famous for seeking the blessings for fertility. And so it is also called Fertility shrine. Although we were done with fertility for this lifetime, 🙂 I agreed and we started walking in the bright and hot sunshine!

Bloggers opinion on TBEX ASIA 2015

Bloggers opinion on TBEX ASIA 2015

Twice before I had planned and booked for TBEX and twice I have been deprived of the opportunity for some reason or the other. I was third time lucky! At last it was TBEX ASIA at Bangkok Thailand !
As a newbie to this event I was apprehensive about what I would do and whom I shall meet. Eventually I decided to keep my mind open and take it as it comes. I must say, I had a fantastic time and I strive to put to pen my sentiments and those of my friends.

I have also captured a few things that could be improved. Mind you, I am not on a fault finding expedition here, just a little something so that TBEX becomes THE event for bloggers around the world. Following are the views by fifteen bloggers of different countries who attended the event. Most of them are of the same view, while some responses are very interesting. 😀

Cooking a Jordanian cuisine

Cooking a Jordanian cuisine

I half-heartedly entered Petra Kitchen and I was not sure if I would enjoy the ‘cook your own food’ part. I was dead tired after walking to SIQ, Petra and other attractions during the day under the scorching sun. We had just returned, and all I wanted to have a good hot shower, my dinner and crash on my bed.

The reality of course was,

Ourselfie, our time together!

Ourselfie, our time together!

I think, for ages, painting selfies, or self-portraits as it was called then, have been a pastime for many an artist. The reason, then, probably was self-glorification or perhaps to show their prowess with the brush and also to depict themselves in a particular way. Many portrayed themselves in a group or mythical scenes too. They wanted to make a statement.

Jordan through their eyes

Jordan through their eyes

Every place that we visit leaves a mark on us and the experience lingers on for a long time. Maybe some incidents, food, monuments or people, there are plethora of reasons why that place is stuck in our memories and that leads to the question…. What factors lift a moment from the banal to the “unforgettable” status? What makes some moments stand out over others?
In Jordan we travelled in a group and each one’s expectations and experiences were like different colors of an artist’s palette. It is only when the artist combines these colors in his own way do we get to see the magnificent picture. Some of them have penned down about their favourite places to complete the picture of Jordan.

World Post Day

World Post Day

World Post Day is celebrated on 9th October every year, that is today. Contrary to the popular belief that the first post office started functioning on this day, it is actually the day on which Universal Postal Union was established in 1874 in Berne.

Enough of history. Why am I talking about this?

If the entrance is this inviting, who would not like to go in ?
Is not it a good way to invite to a museum?
