8 Fun Things to do in Ibiza

So you thought Ibiza is only about beaches, drinks and throbbing night life?
Of course, they are an integral part of this pristine island and Ibiza is the unofficial party capital of the world but there is much more to Ibiza beyond these. Unlike the misconception, Ibiza is as much a destination for a family or a group as it is for couples. If you are not comfortable with the impression it has, go to Ibiza for other reasons.

1) Go drumming.

You can learn, teach or share your passion for music. Benirrás beach is not very crowded; it can easily be called a chilled out beach. People come & stay here to learn yoga and also, drumming. The drumming lessons start with making a drum of your own. The true students begin with hunting for the special pine plant to be used for making drums. The making procedure of these drums is the same as it was in medieval times.

2) Get Married.

Did you know Ibiza is a desired destination for weddings? People from many countries come here to tie the nuptial knot. The marital tourism is booming everyday on this island. So go for your lifetime event. Even if it has already happened, you can always renew the vows with the sand between your toes and the waves providing the soundtrack.
There are many options to choose from and yes, you don’t have to worry about smaller things like hairstylists, make-up artists etc. Everything will be taken care of once you hire a service provider. 🙂

Ibiza’s famous Hippie, known as Hippy market, is one of the top attractions and a must-see for every holiday maker. Ibiza has strong artistic roots going back to the early 60s. The island was flocked by artisans, painters and designers to experience its unique atmosphere and freedom of expression. All this comes alive in the markets where handmade items of clothing, jewelry and artifacts can be seen.

There you’ll find some good restaurants as well. Should I mention that the car parks get filled up quickly so you may need to go early? 😛

The town is more than 2,500 years old and presents you cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings and many other sights from the medieval period. Touring the markets, galleries, shops and bars inside the old buildings makes the experience more interesting and fulfilling.
Don’t stop after this. Revisit it at night. The old town is very different in feel and ambience at night.

6) Enjoy folks dance.

There are several festivals happening all year round, folk dances are one of them. The Ibiza culture and folklore dance that has lasted until now is made up of a mixture of the customs of the different people who lived in the villages of the area in the past. Ibizan dancing generally takes place in the church square.

You can interact with local folk dancers and see how they are dressed up in the typical Ibizan clothing. While doing that don’t forget to taste the local Ibizan delicacies accompanied by wine or soft drinks.

7) Savour the local delicacies.
