At the grand inauguration of Discover Thainess 2015, there were moments when I was awestruck, when I was smiling, when I was curious and when I was speechless. I tried to capture such moments and some faces for you all.
I know it’s so cliche to reflect back on the year that was, but it’s something we all think is important to do. It is that time again to look back and see how enriching our walk has been. These walks, these journeys opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions. As I always say, I count my memories, not places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.
When a military coup seized control of Thailand’s government in May 2014, worried travelers cancelled their vacation plans. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the tourism plummeted by about 20 %. “Should I or shouldn’t I” was the dilemma. Within few weeks Thailand was dancing on its feet again. A bomb blast in Bangkok has raised the issue again.
If you are still confusing over this question with some inconsistent information about travelling to Thailand, then below are some facts & reasons which will ease your decision making for Land of Smiles. 🙂
Hua Hin Railway Station If you ever want to see a working railway station which is also historic, mark Hua Hin Railway Station in your list. Beautifully designed with red and white as main colors, the brightly painted wooden structure of Hua Hin Railway station make it very striking. It looks as beautiful at night as it looks in daytime. We visited it at night.
When I was crossing the bridge on the River Kwai (no, not the movie), I saw a beautiful temple at its bank. Curiosity made me walk up to it, only to find the gates closed.
Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions. As I always say, I count my memories, not the places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.
Have you ever travelled when you were very tired and sleepy and all you wanted a comfortable bed to crash? I have. I wanted to sleep while waiting in immigration queue. I wanted to sleep while waiting to board. There are many instances when I desperately wanted to doze off.
Talking of sleep or lack of it, reminds me of a small anecdote which I want to share with you all.
I was flying to Thailand. The flight was in the evening and as usual I had my window seat. 🙂
Immediately after our airplane settled above the clouds, I could see the Sun setting. To my disappointment my window pane was very dirty from outside so I was unable to take any photo. But I did not want to let go of having a window seat. I turned back and clicked a few shots through the window behind.
