The travel guides describe Croatia as ‘stunning’ and ‘beautiful’. That’s true, they are, but these words just don’t do the country justice. Croatia is so much more than that.

The followers of Islam in India, Malaysia, Turkey and other parts of the world fast during the daylight hours of the month long festival of Eid-ul-Fitr or Ramadan maintaining their self-resistance towards their needs and urges. Come evening, they break their fast with mouth watering dishes in this holy month with much gusto.

Looking back at Year 2014
I know it’s so cliche to reflect back on the year that was, but it’s something we all think is important to do. It is that time again to look back and see how enriching our walk has been. These walks, these journeys opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.
As I always say, I count my memories, not places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.

Shall I tell you one secret now? More than Christmas, I look forward to Christmas markets. The liveliness in dull winter days is what makes them more attractive. Probably that is one of the reasons why I always try to escape every year to a country where these markets happen.

I stand near a river bridge, on the famous river Ebro by which the town Zaragosa is situated. The river is the longest in the country. The weather is sunny and breezy. The two sculptures of lions on the pillars of the bridge stand guard. As I wait for a taxi which will take me to the exhibition site of the new town of Zaragosa on the other side of the bridge, I see a horse sculpture.

Famous for its weird and wonderful natural rock formations and unique historical heritage, Cappadocia is a must do place in Turkey besides Istanbul. This is a place where you can let your imaginations run wild with the rock formations.

Before it finally says bye for the day, the setting Sun makes sure that the river water turns golden. Its reflecting golden rays are doing magic to it. Looks like thousands of gold fishes make a bed just beneath the water surface. The river water is calm and I see a few racing boats paddling rigorously and a cruising ship. Not very far from the tower, San Telmo Palace is glowing to its glory. I am enjoying an evening at Golden Tower, Seville.

I love to visit smaller places that are not very far from a city yet far enough to have its own calm and charm. Ideally located to suit all tastes in holidays Lebrija is one such pretty town only 75 KMs from Seville in the lower basin of the Guadalquivir River. Just relax and take in the traditional Spanish way of life or pay a day’s visit, you’ll remember it for long.

Spanish Gypsy Palm Readers in Andalucia
When we visited Sevilla, there were a few gypsies around the tourist spots such as cathedral area and Plaza de Espana. One of them noticed me, moved towards me in short and fast steps, and then she offered me a bunch of leaves and said something in Spanish. Before I could even react, my guide told me not to accept and gestured me to move away.
