Mark Twain called it “paradise”, and Joseph Conrad “a pearl”. The visuals of turquoise blue waters and white sand beaches…
After my two visits to Mauritius, I maintain, Mauritius is one of those few places in the world you can fall in love with immediately… even before landing. Mark Twain called it “paradise”, and Joseph Conrad “a pearl”. It is a beautiful island country, known for its white beaches and pristine waters. Each side of the island has a different landscape.
What makes it a pleasure is
World Post Day
World Post Day is celebrated on 9th October every year, that is today. Contrary to the popular belief that the first post office started functioning on this day, it is actually the day on which Universal Postal Union was established in 1874 in Berne.
Enough of history. Why am I talking about this?
If the entrance is this inviting, who would not like to go in ?
Is not it a good way to invite to a museum?

Tunisia for adventure lovers
You may enjoy a hopping off point for day-trippers, but Tunisia has a lot to offer those who travel to the country in the hope of experiencing something new.
While adventure sports like parasailing, banana boats, desert dune buggies are all very much on the menu, there are some alternative adventures that are quite specific to this exciting country, too.

They came through sea to work, mostly as plantation workers in sugarcane fields and set their first step on Mauritian soil at this historic place in Port Louis harbor, in the capital of Mauritius. It was on this particular site that, they also spent their first two days in Mauritius before being registered and sent to work.
Literally translated in Hindi, Aapravasi Ghat (अप्रवासी घाट) means
I wonder what I like more about Mauritius. Is it the blue waters or is it the blue sky with white fluffy clouds?
Is it the cloud kissing mountains or the pristine white sands on a beach ? Do I prefer the markets and the malls more or is the vast expanse of sugarcane fields that interests me? The similarity in cultures or the variety of adventure activities?
Mauritius is that one country you can immediately fall in love with, even before landing.
Here is a photo feature of this beautiful country to show you a glimpse.
Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.
As I always say, I count my memories, not the places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.

So, what did I buy in Mauritius?
Unless it is a total vacation, shopping for me is mostly restricted to souvenir shopping, you very well know that. 🙂
And that tells you why this post! I realized it’s another month and time to talk about the souvenirs collected from all over the world and what better time to show you something from Mauritius, from where I returned recently.
Beautifully woven colorful bags.
There are many
Things you didn’t know about Mauritius
Mauritius, a beautiful island country, known for its white beaches and pristine waters. Each side of the island reveals a dramatically different landscape from the other. It is that one country you can fall in love with immediately… even before landing.
Mauritius is absolutely a pleasure!
Cliff jumping in Mauritius
Only the day before I had witnessed a purely South Indian festival of Thai Poosam in the exotic island called Mauritius. I was exhausted after the festival and later driving round the island with some friends.
When I woke up next morning I was as fresh and energetic as ever. I was poring over the map to look for some off beat places when I spotted Sept Cascade. Literal meaning is 7 waterfalls. It sounded interesting. I checked with hotel reception. One of the guys had not seen or heard of it; the other one said no point going there since it is not been raining. The falls are beautiful only during and after rains.
Well I had already made up my mind. Asked him how to get around using the local bus and got some tips. He said rarely do tourists want to go to there and that too in a local bus.
I smiled “This one does!”. 😀
Do you see 3 levels of ponds? There are 7 of them.
