Fairmont Bab Al Bahr: Abu Dhabi

Fairmont Bab Al Bahr: A Luxury Property at Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – view from my window

During my visit to Abu Dhabi I had stayed at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, a luxurious five star hotel. Literally meaning ‘Gateway to the Sea’, this hotel is strategically located by an ocean creek and most of the rooms offer great views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of Abu Dhabi’s main tourist attractions.
Its location as mid-way between the Abu Dhabi international airport and Abu Dhabi downtown is a big plus as it is only 15 – 20 minutes from most of the happening places.

View from my room! Does it look like a place in middle east?

The first and foremost, I’ll talk about the service. The service levels of this hotel are top class and their concierge team is very polite and efficient. I cannot say how pleasantly I was surprised when the staff addressed me as “Ms Jha”. Be it a housekeeping staff or in the restaurants, they all knew my name!
In Frankie, the restaurant, where we had dinner on one of the nights, besides veg/ non-veg etc. menu, they had a Diabetic menu as well. When I wished to have that, the chef came and introduced himself also referring to me as ‘Ms Jha’. Then he discussed in details what he was going to prepare for me. Such was the service! And to tell you, this was the first hotel from all my travels where I came across a diabetic menu!

The hotel has several in-house restaurants, each competing with each other to serve us delicious food and beverages. During my 5 day stay there, I could try only three of their restaurants and enjoyed the spread thoroughly.

My spacious room !
Spacious bathroom.
Everyday there were fresh supplies.
I took time to realize, every single piece on this plate was actually chocolate!

The entire hotel had a fashionable look where everything was designed like an underwater experience. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and had plush upholstery and modern facilities. I wonder had I opted for the presidential suites, how they would have pampered me with exclusive privileges. The entire hotel has internet connectivity, though I found the network signals were a bit weak inside the restaurants.

The hotel has a scenic waterfront, and a beach which is ideal for a stroll during morning and evening hours. I could not use facilities such as swimming pool, business lounges, spa and the in-house shopping areas of the hotel but they told me they are good too.

It was a soccer world cup season. They had put a huge tent by the waterfront with huge screens. This was a cool idea to have such a setup where one could enjoy the soccer matches with drinks.

Overall, if you are looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay with a great view in Abu Dhabi, then Fairmont Bab Al Bahr is the answer.
