A lot of people visit Taiwan only for Taipei 101. It is an extremely popular tourist attraction. That, plus entry ticket of NT$1000 (Approx. INR 2000); the budget traveler in me had almost decided against visiting it. In the end better sense prevailed and I took a metro to Taipei 101. I can never regret visiting it. I am yet to write about the place but here is something else about it.
Smiling Taiwan. That is how Taiwan likes to refer to itself. As tourists, we feel it around us the moment we step out of the airplane. The surrounding greens and wildlife, ultra-modern and efficient infrastructure, the coastal region with its lovely beaches, the museums, similar yet different from China attitude, and to top it all, the warmth of its people. Taiwan smiles at you. 🙂 It is a country from where you’d not want to go home even after spending a month. More on this later.
Here I am talking about the counter no. 16. There is a large electronic map by Sony at counter no. 16. The map is mounted on a wall and a camera is fixed above it. All you need to do is to stand at a marked circle in front of it and the camera will capture your face.
Your face will pop up randomly in the map for a few moments and then mingle with the crowd. It was fun to search for your face after that. As the new faces got added, the old ones faded away.
It was a fun activity but there was a queue for even this! More than kids, the adults were more interested. I enjoyed it so much that I stood in the queue more than 3 times! I had the time of my life without any bother. The blessings of traveling alone. 😀
The last picture has some of my faces. Can you guess how many and where? 🙂
Do you enjoy such activities when you are alone?

Divya,
No, It was on a huge screen.
I did what I could the best. Clicked pics of this souvenir. 😀 😛

Alok,
Aren’t they small fun things to do while you are traveling?
I enjoy them a lot. 🙂
Good marketing trick for a slefie centered world.. but on second thoughts most people are happy to see their faces on big screens… 🙂
Prasad,
More than seeing my face, I had more fun in searching for it. 😀
Wow! This is interesting!
I don’t travel much but I find things related to travel interesting. I loved “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Queen, Highway…
